Hi there,

I have an Emby Server that is capable of transcoding. When transcoding and watching the transcoded stream in a browser everything is perfectly fine.

However I have a RPi3 with Kodi, that is connected via Wifi and one that is connected over the Internet. Both play videos, that are not transcoded perfectly fine. For some videos however, I need transcoding and these videos keep on stuttering.

I tried to enable the Kodi cache in the advancedsettings.xml, cause it seems like a caching problem for me. Caching works fine for videos that are not transcoded. The cache is filled up to the desired value.

When I start a transcoded video the cache is not filled and the videos stutters every now and then because the Wifi speed sometimes drops under the bitrate value (but is a lot over that in average). This means I cannot Emby + transcoding + Kodi.

When Emby is transcoding, it produces lots of .ts files with approx. 1Mbyte and a m3u8 playlist with the content:

Each .ts-file has a size of 1 MByte.

I suppose Kodi only caches the .ts-file that is played at the moment and therefore only uses 1 MByte of Cache.
Is there a workaround for this, so Kodi uses caching for the whole m3u8 playlist? I see the "EXT-X-ALLOW-CACHE:YES" up there but it doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone have an idea where to start debugging? It seems more like a Kodi problem to me (not caching playlists) than an Emby problem...

UK Streaming services

I'm looking for some advice because, frankly, I'm floundering with this...

I'd like to find a movie / tv show streaming service that's available in the UK, that will work with a native Kodi plugin. Is there such a thing? Could people suggest any good options, please? It seems that Netflix wants to run externally, and I don't know what the deal is with LoveFilm / Amazon Prime except that my TV's client is truly awful.

Yes, I'd like a subscription service - not asking about Exodus etc here. Also, my Kodi devices are predominately Raspberry Pi 3s, so we're looking at MPEG2 / VC1 / h264 encoding.

I hope that makes sense - my head is fried from a day of wrestling Windows servers...

ActivateWindow(10140) Heading Missing

Hi there, Im a noob making my first addon.

I have a button inside the addon that displays the addon settings dialog using ActivateWindow(10140). However, the heading is missing. In confluence, It's normally in Orange and would say "Settings - My Addon" along the top but, it's missing.

What am I doing wrong? Do I have to put the name of the addon in beside the ActivateWindow(10140) onclick event somehow?

any help would be appreciated. I've spent too long on this as it is hehe. THANK YOU! Smile

HDHomeRun Add one that works with older devices?

It seems that new HDHomeRun app in Kodi does not support older devices (like HDHR3-US). And Kodi team have also cut previously supported HDHomeRun protocol in favor of new HDHomeRun app.

Since I still have HDHR3-US and do not really want to throw away another $100 for replacing otherwise working system.
What can I do to make it work with Kodi? Is there some kind of work around?

I am trying to setup MY own personal build of kodi that has all of my paid app subs etc.

Addon Videos in Playlists

I have been working on a couple of addons for some video websites. Something I noticed with both of these addons since I installed 17.3 is that I no longer get a "queue" option in the context menu. Also I have a playlist of all the videos and if I do a "play from here" they don't populate the "current playlist". They play one after the other but still don't show up in "current playlist". If I had something else playing, like movies from my local library and do a "play from here" the proper videos play but the local library movie titles remain in "current playlist". Has anyone else noticed something like this or have any idea what I may need to change in my addon to fix this? Both of my addons have "video" set in the addon.xml for the <provides> tag.

can anyone tell me how to stop it ?

yes its my own addon, and if you need more information please ask, i dont think a full log will help, as there really is nothing else to see, just normal kodi stuff, however if required i will upload.

I installed ESPN and activated it but the activation says ok but won't hold more than a couple minutes.

I have Cox Internet and the IP address is different in my Minix box, could this be it.

Hi... I am new so I'm sorry if I don't know some stuff.......but I had an add on that had a Documentary section and under it there was a Travel section....In that travel section was all the old Rick Steves travel shows.....well my build crashed so I had to re-install it and now I don't remember the add on it was under.......does anyone know what add on it would be under or where to get his shows?? ....Thank you

Hi everyone,
I'm sorry, this is probably in the wrong place... somehow during the night, our kodi was reset and everything deleted off of our Amazon Fire tv box.

I have just spent 3-4 hours trying to get the new 17.3 version


1 . Can anyone help us with the main menu? We used to open Kodi and there were icons , now it just opens to a blue screen with 2 squares, one says Android apps and the other says Program Add Ons.

2 . I'm constantly having pop ups about "pvr clients not working"

REQUEST - Double Feature Management w Interlude

I've spent quite a while digging through the forum trying to find a mod, app or instructions on how to do what I'm about describe with no luck. If anyone knows how to accomplish this with anything currently available for Kodi, can you point me in the right direction?

btw- I am aware of Cinema Experience, and that's probably outdated and overkill for this.

What I'd like to have is the ability to create lists of Double Feature (and possibly triple+) movies and have the ability to set an interlude between the movies. The interlude would be optional, I just think it could be a cool feature to have for hands off movie parties.

I like to create pairings of movies and have Double Feature movie parties with family or friends and it would be great to be able to create lists/sets and keep track of them in Kodi. Right now it's old pen and paper. lol

Really simply features such as:

- Create/Edit Double Features
- Set a time before the next movie starts
- Interlude screen image or the ability to play trailers or some other local videos with a timer watermark showing when the next film will begin. Basically an intermission for people to use the bathroom, get a snack etc. without having to fuss with kodi or set up another movie.

Cinema experience had an intermission feature similar to that.

Any ideas on how to currently accomplish this?
If not, is there anyone else interested in seeing this kind of feature? I'd be willing to help fund a mod/add-on for this if some other people are as well.

artwork downloader problem

ok so artwork downloader has been good for me, i have 99.8% of my movies logoed, just less than a week ago i added a movie and it got the artwork just fine, though just yesterday it started not working anymore, and today i tried adding the batman movies that came out 89-97 and ran the program, it got nothing for them, added my superman movies with christopher reeves and it didnt give me logos for them either. whats wrong, i know those movies have logos, i tried to update artwork downloader and it didnt help, i tried to uninstall it, but it tells me it cant be uninstalled, so now what?
