I have had a couple of cheap Kodi boxes and recently decided to try and cut the chord from our cable tv company, so I purchased a NVIDIA Shield. As I was starting to get Kodi and some apps setup, I reached out to a friend of mine who used to sell streamsmart boxes and she loaned me a streamsmart pro and said I could test it out for a couple weeks. She said she would sell it to me for her cost, $250. While the NVIDIA Shield is heads and shoulders above the streamsmart when it comes to specs and voice technology, the streamssmart kills my NVIDIA Shield when it comes to playing live sports, like NFL and UFC. While I struggled to find any strreams playing UFC last night on my NVIDIA Shield, I quickly and easily found multiple ways to watch UFC on the streamsmart and it was crystal clear, just like I was getting PPV from my cable company.
So, I guess what I am trying to ask, how can I get my NVIDIA Shield to work as well as this streamsmart? Is it as simple as subscribing to an IPTV and vpn? It seems like the key with the streamsmart is that it comes with premium apps. With the NVIDIA Shield, I would have to pay a monthly fee to get the same quality of apps.
I am tempted to just keep the streamsmart, because it just works. It was super fast to switch between football games this past Sunday. I could keep the NVIDIA Shield and use it as my PLEX server.
